LECTURE NOTES

Lecture 1
30/08/2018
Since this week was the first week, we only brushed upon the topic. We learnt about the User Interface Design and the User Experience Design. The User Interface Design, refers to the look and feel, the presentation and interactivity of the product. It is the part of the product that faces the user when they see the site. The User Experience Design, refers to how a person feels when they look at the site, aka, the experience they have.

Lecture 2
06/08/2018
No lecture was conducted this week, we simple began our exercise which was finding six good and six bad websites and then presenting why we found those websites good or bad.

Lecture 3
13/08/2018
This week, Mr.Shamsui explained the elements of interactive design which include animation, sound, navigation, videos. He also told us the rules of an interface which include ease of learning, efficiency of use, memorability, minimisation of errors and satisfaction of the user.

INSTRUCTIONS

EXERCISES

Week 2
This week, we are asked to group together and find six good websites and six bad websites. The task assigned to us was that we had to identify what made those websites good or bad such as the animation, navigation, and how the website acts on different screens. We were then told to create spreadsheet and list the website names and what made them good or bad, along with the target audience.

Week 3
We were asked to create an interface for a specific scenario. The scenario we chose is that a student is trying to learn about the events that will be happening in Taylor's University

3.1 Sketches for the layout

3.2 Sketches for what we wanted to include into the interface

3.3 PDF for our interface

Week 6
04/10/2018

This week, we did an exercise regarding HTML in dreamweaver. Mr.Shamsui asked us to create resumes in google doc and then transfer that into dreamweaver.
4.1 embedded resume

4.2 Picture of resume

4.3 Resume in dreamweaver, HTML format

4.4 Resume on file

Week 7
11/10/2018
This week, we learned about the CSS Box model and how to  create it. WE then tried it out on dreamweaver.
5.1 Box Model HTML

5.2 Box Model CSS code

5.3 Box model on real time preview.

Week 8
18/10/2018
This week, we were asked to use the box model and make a layout. We were given the layout and were told it must contain navigation, images, information, a header and a footer.

6.1 The content given to us.

6.2 HTML file for the layout

6.3 CSS file for the layout

6.4 Layout in real time view. (part 1)

6.5 Layout real time view (part 2)

Feedback
Week 1: None given since this was just an introductory class.

Week 2: None, since we only presented.

Week 3: Since this was a group exercise, we were told that our interface was designed very well and had all the necessary elements.

REFLECTION
 Experiences:

Week1: It was quite interesting because from what I know about code, its all jumbled up words and letters that the computer can only understand. I felt excited because this module is basically teaching us how to speak the computer language in a way.

Week 2: This week we had to present and presenting is not one of myself wrong points but I need to get better at it since it is a requirement.

Week 3: This week I realised just how hard it is to work in group. Even though the members of my group were my friends, when there's a lot of ideas, its hard to combine them all together but we managed.

 Findings:

Week 1:My classmates and myself included, were a little intimidated when we saw the example of coding but learning comes with intimidation and we're here to learn.

Week 2: This week, we were all very eager to start designing our own websites until we were told that the actual website planning won't begin for some time. First, we need to learn the basics about websites and the elements websites consist. We cannot rush into creating something without know the fundamentals first.

Week 3: As a kid and even at my current age, I always thought web design and interfaces would be simple to make but realised I always thought that because all interfaces I have used, are very good interfaces. This week, when we had to design our own, straight to the point interface, is when I understood just how tricky it is. Everyone has a different way understanding and things that may be simple for some, aren't simple for others.
