Lectures

Week 1
01/04/2019
Since it was the first day of the new semester. Mr.Vinod briefed us about what would have to do for this project. WE had to crate a book from scratch, the content, the illustrations, everything would be done by us. For our first task, we are suppose to write 3000 words about a story about whatever we want to write about, we either use content but credit the original author or we try to find a client who would like their content published.

Instructions

After my feedback, I was told to create prints using print making and I had no idea how to do it but using Mr.Vinod's explanation and tutorials and whatever else I could find on the internet, I start.
2.4 Starting the print making

2.5 By the end of the night I managed to create some very interesting looking prints.

2.6 Print making

Week 4
This week, I showed Mr.Vinod the print making and after his approval I began to develop the illustrations and make the elements I wanted to be seen more visible.

3.1 Visuals with the illustrations.

Week 5
This week, after showing Mr.Vinod the final visuals I had come up with. he told me I was good to go and to create thumbnails for the visuals.

4.1 Final Thumbnails.

Feedback

Week 2: After seeing the content for my book, Mr.Vinod told me to generate my own barcode and to start highlighting the areas I would be using for illustrations.

Week 3: Mr.Vinod gave me an idea for my illustrations since I was stuck and thank god he did because he basically developed the idea I was struggling to develop over the weekend. I went to Mr.Vinod with my digitalised visuals and he told me whilst they were okay, he wanted to push me and asked me to do something hands on and suggested print making.

Week 4: Mr.Vinod told me the print making looked interesting and asked me to further develop it after I told I wanted to add illustration son top to making it more understandable.

Week 5: Mr.Vinod told me I was good to go and that's pretty much all he said.

Reflection

Week 1: I'm very, very, very excited. I mean,  I'm a bit anxious as well but thats normal new semester behaviour but I hope I stay this motivated and positive through out the semester. I have quite a few ideas and I have the books and resources on my side. I just hope I'm able to meet the expectations and create something extraordinary.

Week 2: Mr.Vinod helped fix my document and showed me how to generate a barcode which now makes me feel like a spy who can generate fake barcodes and thats very lame. I'm a bit worried about my illustrations since I don't know how to progress with them and the idea is jumbled up in my brain.

Week 3: This week, after my feedback I attempted print making and at first I struggled a lot and I don't know if I achieved what I was suppose to but I had a lot of fun making the prints. It took me a whole hour to figure out how to get the prints on the paper and i ended up making some very abstract looking art but was able to visualise something from that abstractness. Moral of the reflection, it was fun and worth being covered in paint.

Week 4: There's quite some satisfaction when a lecturer finds your work and praises it and I think, even if he didn't like it, I was quite happy with the end result of the print making and visuals. Throughout this, I learnt a new skill and learnt that I was capable of creating something by getting off my laptop.

Week 5: This week after getting everything approved, I was quite happy with the way everyone looked and as this project ends, I'm excited to see how the next one gos. I just hope that the rest and end result of the module goes well and looks good.

The article talks about the five rules of design in commotion and layout. Staring off, the article explains how the elements and principles design work together to create a layout and composition.

The article talks about the five rules which are the grid, emphasis and scale, balance, rules of thirdhand the rule of odds.

The grid refers to the grid system most designers use or can imagine when they work. The reason designers use a grid is because they make the design cleaner and more efficient and easier to adapt.

Emphasis and scale refers to how a viewer communicate with the composition . Certain elements in a composition have to be more eye catching since they are the focal point of the composition.

Balance refers to how designers constantly move different elements around all the elements work together but also in a way where each element can shine by itself.

Rule of third is a way to help find v=balance in a composition since its a grid a designer creates to understand where they want to place their elements and why.

Rule of odds refers to how a composition has a n odd number of elements in the background. The objects in fronts appear to be the focal point and this creates a sense of a simple and and natural balance.
