Lectures
Week 5
29/04/2019
This week's lecture was recap about typography before we started designed the layouts for our book. We went over the basics of legibility and readability, kerning and leading. We were reminded how each sentence should have 50 to 60 letters and how paragraph spacing is the same as the leading point size.

Project 2
Week 5
29/04/2019
This week, we had to find layout references which for our books layouts.
This week, before starting our book, we also had to create a type specimen sheet along with three grid systems that would be our potential grid systems.
Week 7
13/05/2019
After showing the layout I had made in class, Mr.Vinod sat me down and made a lot changes to my layout and explained why he was doing what he was doing. But after my consultation with him I understood what I had done wrong and fixed everything.
Feedback
Week 6: After seeing my layout, Mr.Vinod told me that the typeface I was using was too old looking and since the content of my book and the visuals were a bit different, I should use a different typeface and he recommended on using Merriweather.
Week 7: After seeing the amendments to my layout, Mr.Vinod told me the grid system wasn't working and that everything looked very repetitive and monotonous and so he helped me design a new one. He also told me to distribute to the text in a way where it was readable and legible.
Week 8: After seeing my layout, he told me to align the text so it all looks equal and to add some text to the pages with the visuals so they don't look too empty. Other than that he said it was all good to go.
Reflection
Week 5: The typeface specimen sheet and the grid system design proved to useful and a bit confusing because when I started designing my layout, I became a bit confused as to where I should portion th text.
Week 6: When I started designing the book, I became to have fun with where the layout was going and how it was looking. I wanted the layout to interpret what my brain looked like and got caught up in creating a layout that looked like that and didn't really focus on the readability and legibility aspect of the layout.
Week 7: Mr.Vinod helped me create a layout and I was very intrigued how he so easily managed to create layout, I was struggling to create but with his guidance I was able to create a layout that showed both the visuals and the content of the book. The only issue was when there weren't enough pages and so I got to add more of my visuals.
Week 8: Over the three weeks, the progression of the book has been very satisfying to watch especially for me since I love to read. Ive now gotten a much better understanding to what goes in when the professionals design a book layout and the thought process that goes into designing a book. After making the final minor changes and seeing the final layout, the feeling of satisfaction and enjoyment. Now I can't wait for the final copy to be printed.

Typography In Magazines
The book talks about editorial design and talks about what editors consider when creating their identity in the use of typography.
The book starts y explains how typography plays a major role in communicating, titles, paragraphs, columns and other elements related in magazines or books. Typography is based on three basic levels: texts, headlines or in small sections.
The main use f typography is for readability and intelligibility. Intelligibility is not consistent with readability as text may be intelligible (can be read) but not readable. Meaning, the text is readable if it is perceived by the reader as enjoyable and interesting, something which depends on factors such as the difficulty of comprehension, diversity of content, length of sentences, word choice.
