Design Research Dissertation: Draft Dissertation
INSTRUCTIONS
PROJECT 1
Week 1
This was our introductory class to the MIB and we were told how we had to compile our research from our previous module: Design Research Methodology into a dissertation publication. The specifics of the dissertation draft were given to us and Dr.Hayati told us to start by making our skeleton. For some recap, my research was about how packaging design effected consumers' decision making.
Before starting with the skeleton, I started by looking into how to write literature reviews since that was more of my concern and began to write it. I split my literature review into three parts, each part would be consisting of two research articles that I had used in the previous semester when I researched about what elements influenced consumers.
Week 3
After showing Dr.Hayati the first part of my literature review, she told me to focus on making the skeleton first and then to start with the literature review since it would be better to work in a chronological way.
Week 4
This week, I did not have much progress because my laptop charger broke and so I was unable to use my laptop but I told Dr.Hayati how I would have more progress in the coming week.
Week 5
This week, I finished my literature review and my skeleton which was approved by Dr.Hayati and I started by writing in all the other bits I did. I worked on finishing everything from the introduction to the research analysis and throughtou the way, Dr.Hayati told me what needed to be fixed and what not.
Week 6
This week, I worked on finishing uo my discussion and conclusion. Dr.Hayati told me to find som pictures that related and went with my topic to add some visual element to the dissertation since the content is so text heavy.
Week 7
This week, we had to submit our dissertation drafts.
Feedback
Week 2: Add citations to literature review and start thinking about what’s lacking from the research methodology.
Week 3: Write down the name of the articles and add the date for the articles. Add more narrative and link all statements back to the article. Add an extension element that lists the limitations of the articles and what they’re lacking.
Week 4: Have further progress for next week
Week 5: Add publication dates and change the narrative a bit.For the discussion, try to triangulate between all the topic. Add the name and identify which critical review article is being talked about and analysed,
Week 6: Triangulate the dissertation in the discussion section and make sure all the points correlate.
Week 7: Focus on the conclusion and make sure it isn’t repetitive and is clear for the reader to understand and be able to conclude what the dissertation is about.

1.1 Compilation of the research from the last semester.
