FINAL PROJECT
Week 11
Since I missed the first class for packaging this week, I took it upon myself to catch up instantly and consulted with my group member from interior architecture. After meeting with her, she explained her brand concept and told me she created a customised eye serum brand and wanted something where the customers would receive a goodie box on the opening day of the brand.
FEEDBACK
Week 12: Mr.Shamsul helped me with the logo design and in selecting the typeface along with helping me come up with the initial packaging ideas. My initial idea was creating a paper bag but he told me that having one type of packaging was good enough.
Week 13: For the merchandise, he told me to create a different looking tote bag and liked my idea and guided me with the colours for the paper bag since the yellow wasn't working with the white tote bag. He also gave me the thumbs up to execute with my idea
REFLECTION
For the final project, I had a lot of fun because I got very carried away and went into my own little world where I was actually designing a packaging for a client and my housemate had to keep reminding me that it was a project, so she helped me stay grounded. The merchandises turned out great and I'm quite happy with them along with the overall design.
The box was the trickiest bit since cutting the A1s took a lot of effort and I was worried my blade would go blunt or I would but my finger because I'm quite clumsy. However, the cutting went great but I ended up burning my hands because of the glue gun and it hurt but the end product looked great. By the end of the day, my back hurt because I had been bent over but this was very fun anti only took me 15 weeks to figure out how to make a proper box.
I also released, that mock ups are very annoying because the cutting goes wrong and the paper is flimsy and they always end up looking not nice and that annoys the perfectionist in me. However, packaging design was fun and now I have the skill to go around judging packaging in my head and think of ways I can improve them.

FINAL PROJECT
Week 11

1.1 Fatin's sketches
Week 12
This week I started designing and brainstorming for the packaging and merchandising before showing it to Mr.Shamsul. For the logo and the overall design, I wanted to create something that was almost abstractive but very simple at the same time. I did this by drawing very simple fact shapes but without the whole face.
After that, I consulted with my partner and she chosen the face in the centre as her favourite so i centred the logo around that preference and started playing with typefaces.
1.2 Different positioning of the text
Along with the positioning of the text, I also played with the colours I wanted. I wanted to do the red and light yellow combination from the beginning because it looked elegant to me and more constructing but I still made a darker blue option in case as a plan B.
1.3 Different Colours
After consulting with Mr.Shamsul, he chose the first design and the red and yellow colour combination. I also showed him my ideas for the merchandise which were a t-shirt, tote bag and candle.
1.4 T-shirt design
1.5 First tote bag design
For the tote bag, Mr.Shamsul told me that after printing, the colour may not be visible since it is so light and recommended that I changed the colour to the dark red I was using as my background colour.
1.6 Finalised tote bag
However, for my candle, Mr.Shamsul didn't approve of the first one since it was texture and he told me my idea of the sticker wouldn't be easy to stick on. So I bought a different smoother candle.
1.7 First candle
1.8 Second candle
1.9 Mock up of what the candle will look like afterwards.
Week 13
This week, I focused on getting my merchandise printed so I went to the shop to place the order for the tote bag and t-shirt. I also worked on creating a mock up and started thinking about the kind of box I wanted to create.
2.1 Reference box
2.2 Reference box closed
2.3 Mock up
2.4 Mock up open
My mock up was very flimsy and not very neat but I made it just to realise and understand how to make my final dyeline and to get the idea across to Mr.Shamsul which he thank god understood even though my mock up was very messy. After this, as I wanted for my merchandise to be printed, I started creating my box and used items that resembled my merchandise as measurements.
2.5 Merchandise
All that was left was to make my dyelines and get everything printed.
2.6 Outside box
2.7 Inside box
2.8 I also made a design for a small name card I wanted to place inside the box
Week 14
This week, was printing and assembling week.
3.1 Final T-shirt
3.2 Tote bag
3.3 The candle
3.4 Both the inside and outside box next to each other
3.5 Inside box
3.6 The inside box placed inside the outside box
3.7 The name card placed in
3.8 The merchandise placed inside the box
3.9 Box closed
3.10 Close up of the box closed. I added a small sticker to help keep the flap closed and to create a more fun surprise of opening the box.
3.11 The final product ready for submission. I added the ribbon inside with the merchandise and the outside box to make it look more elegant and more fun to open.
3.11 Compilation of the overall process and progress
