REFLECTION
Week 14: Through this semester, publishing has been my favourite module because I think I finally discovered the kind of art style and the kind of art I want to create. I'm grateful for Mr.Vinod for pushing me and getting me off my laptop and getting me to create the print making which was the most fun I had this whole semester. As someone who loves to read and is a full on book worm, publishing gave me and insight into what goes into making books. Everything I've learnt so far in typography and advanced typography came into use and I had to refresh my memory quite a lot. The one thing I learnt was that the pubs of books I've downloaded are horrible and I now get why my head hurts after I finish reading a book on my phone, LEADING!!!
Publishing design opened a door way to a new learning experience and since working in a publishing firm is one of my ideas for after I graduate, I learnt that I still need to learn a lot more about publishing and layout design and publishing helped me hone my skills quite a lot. My favourite about publishing was that for once, we din't have a restraint on us when it came to the content and visuals and we got to be as crazy or different as we wanted. I realised that there is a whole aspect of design where the traditional getting off your laptop and being on your laptop methods can be combined to create one final composition or in this case the book.
Usually when the semester ends, I'm grateful that its ended but for publishing I feel sad, its been the module I've enjoyed the most through my university experience so far but all good things must come to an end. So with a heavy heart I bid publishing design a goodbye.
